LCV Condemns Confirmation of Judge Allison Eid

Nov 2, 2017

In response to the confirmation of Judge Allison Eid to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, League of Conservation Voters Judiciary Program Director Desiree Tims issued the following statement:

“The League of Conservation Voters is disappointed in today’s 56-41 vote to confirm Judge Allison Eid to one of our nation’s highest courts. The courts are the final arbiters of justice, ensuring that all people in this country are protected by our bedrock environmental safeguards, as well as the civil rights that underpin our democracy. Eid has a history of anti-environmental rulings and her confirmation continues the Trump administration’s efforts to roll back environmental protections at every level. Her service on the 10th Circuit could have devastating consequences for the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the lands we cherish. This is a blow to judicial independence.”

Earlier this week LCV sent a letter to the U.S. Senate urging members to oppose Eid’s confirmation. You can read the letter here.
