Santa Fe, NM – Tomorrow, President Joe Biden will be traveling to New Mexico in the wake of the state’s multiple record-breaking wildfires that have scorched hundreds of thousands of acres of forest land this year. He will meet in Santa Fe at the New Mexico State Emergency Operation Center with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, first responders, and emergency personnel. Alongside his visit, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is running a digital ad campaign in Santa Fe and surrounding communities urging the President and Congress to tackle climate change head on by passing federal legislation that makes historic investments in clean energy.

With hotter and drier summers and longer droughts fueled by climate change, wildfires are made more frequent and more damaging. New Mexico is still battling the Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak Fire in the Santa Fe National Forest and the Black Fire in the Gila National Forest. They are burning over 617,000 acres collectively and are the two largest wildfires in the recorded history of the state.
