Washington, D.C. – Today the League of Conservation Voters launched Instagram ads holding Representatives Chris Collins (NY-27), Dan Donovan (NY-11), Darrell Issa (CA-49) and Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) accountable for three recent anti-climate votes. Despite being members of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, all four voted for a fossil fuel-backed climate denial resolution and supported amendments to prohibit the EPA from putting limits on methane pollution and to require the government to ignore the costs of climate change.

“These representatives have claimed to support common sense solutions to address climate change, but recently voted anti-climate on three key votes,” said Sara Chieffo, LCV Vice President of Government Affairs. “Their constituents should know that their member of Congress struck out on these three votes. Membership in the Climate Solutions Caucus is empty rhetoric if these representatives continue to vote in line with polluter special interests.”

On July 19, 2018, Collins, Donovan, Issa and Jenkins voted for an extreme anti-climate solutions resolution which seeks to prevent even the exploration of options that address the impacts, causes and challenges of climate change. On July 18, they also supported two dangerous anti-climate amendments to the Interior-EPA spending bill, one blocking EPA from setting limits on methane pollution and another requiring the government blind itself to the costs of climate change.

LCV’s interactive digital ads highlight these anti-climate votes and provide a call to action for constituents to contact their representatives and petition them to start voting for real climate solutions.
