Washington D.C. — In anticipation of the Senate floor vote to confirm Jennifer Granholm to serve as Energy Secretary, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and Michigan League of Conservation Voters (MLCV) issued the following statements:

“We congratulate Secretary-designate Granholm and are confident she will do a stellar job leading the Energy Department and our nation toward a 100% clean energy economy that creates good-paying jobs in renewable energy, transportation, and all of the industries that support research, development, and deployment of new technologies,” said LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld.

“Secretary-designate Granholm has the expertise and innovative spirit to lead our country’s transition to 100% clean energy and achieve President Biden’s vision to put Americans to work in the clean energy jobs of the future,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “We have a real opportunity to revitalize our economy, protect our water, and create jobs as we transition to cleaner sources of energy and transportation, like wind, solar, and electric vehicles. The time to act is now.”

LCV previously sent a letter from LCV President Gene Karpinski to the U.S. Senate urging senators to support the nomination of Jennifer Granholm for Secretary of Energy, adding that this vote will be considered in the 2021 National Environmental Scorecard.
