In response to the release of nine House Republican bills to undermine the Endangered Species Act, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Legislative Associate Arian Rubio:

“The Congressional Western Caucus’s bills to gut the Endangered Species Act – our most effective law for protecting wildlife from extinction – are extreme attacks that threaten the safeguards for our nation’s most imperiled wildlife. The ESA has prevented more than 99 percent of listed species from going extinct, and Congress should focus on making sure that recovery efforts have adequate resources, rather than making it harder for scientists and wildlife experts to protect species at risk of extinction. LCV will continue to strongly oppose this package and any other legislation that would undermine the Endangered Species Act and put our nation’s wildlife at greater risk.”
