Washington D.C. – In response to the EPA’s proposal to roll back standards that reduce methane pollution from the oil and gas sector, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote:

“Neither devastating wildfires nor deadly heat waves nor past and impending hurricanes will stop the Trump administration from doing the bidding of Big Polluters and unwinding protections designed to fight climate change. It has never been clearer that the impacts of climate change are here now, yet Trump and EPA Acting Administrator Wheeler want to give oil and gas companies a free pass to dump more dangerous methane pollution into our air, jeopardizing the health and well-being of our communities. This administration continues to shirk their responsibility to protect our planet for future generations, but we refuse to sit idly by while they hand over our environment to dirty fossil fuel companies and vow to fight the rollback of these critical climate safeguards.”
