Washington, D.C. – In response to the House passing the Water Resource Development Act, LCV Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote issued the following statement:

“Today the House took an important first step in providing much-needed aid to the people of Flint, Michigan who still lack access to clean water. For too long, Flint has been waiting for help, and we thank Representative Kildee, Leader Pelosi, and others who continually stood up to demand action. Republican leadership has finally promised to provide assistance, and we will work to make sure any final conference package includes aid to Flint as well as the Senate’s clean water provisions to help ensure that no one has to worry that the water coming out of their tap is poisoning their family. We call on House leadership to bring this bill to conference swiftly.”
