Washington, D.C. – In response to news reports that Trump is nominating Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State and former Texas Governor Rick Perry as Secretary of Energy, League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“Oops…Trump did it again. With these nominations, it’s clearer than ever that Donald Trump is hoping to install the most anti-environmental cabinet in our nation’s history. The choice of climate change denier Rick Perry as Secretary of Energy and ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State coupled with Scott Pruitt as the Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Jeff Sessions as Attorney General and the likely selection of Cathy McMorris Rodgers as Secretary of Interior would be a polluter paradise that is completely at odds with public support for protecting our air, water, lands and wildlife. In no way did the elections give the incoming administration a mandate to roll back either recent climate progress or our bedrock environmental laws, and we are ready to go to the mat on all fronts.”
