Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Debbie Stabenow, Elissa Slotkin and Haley Stevens on their wins in Michigan’s congressional races. LCV Victory Fund invested $470,000 in the 8th and 11th congressional district.

“We are delighted that Michiganders have chosen to reelect Senator Stabenow and elect these two other champions for the Great Lakes,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “In a state that knows better than most how essential clean water is to healthy communities, Senator Stabenow and Representatives-elect Slotkin and Stevens will be fierce advocates for strong protections for our environment and public health.”

In the 8th district, LCV Victory Fund ran a TV ad that exposed incumbent Mike Bishop’s record of voting to allow corporations to spew toxic pollution into our air.

In the 11th district, Lena Epstein was named to the infamous Dirty Dozen due to her history of climate denial and her unwavering support for the Trump’s administration dangerous pro-polluter agenda.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out voters for both Stabenow and Stevens as part of a nationwide field program that engaged nearly 1,500 volunteers.

Environmental donors contributed nearly $650,000 to Michigan candidates, including over $150,000 to Stabenow’s campaign and more than $100,000 to Slotkins’s campaign via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.

LCV Action Fund endorsed Stabenow, Slotkin, and Stevens because of their commitments to clean water protections and climate action. LCV Action Fund also endorsed Matt Morgan, Matt Longjohn, Gretchen Driskell, Andy Levin, Debbie Dingell, and Rashida Tlaib.

Additionally, Michigan League of Conservation Voters’ Conservation Voters of Michigan PAC invested $3 million to elect Gretchen Whitmer governor and clean water champions to the state legislature.
