Follows NY LCV Endorsement of Maloney

Washington DC – Today, the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsed Sean Patrick Maloney’s re-election to Congress based on his strong record of fighting for the environment, including cleaning up the Hudson River and combatting climate change. Maloney has fought to hold GE accountable for PCB’s in the Hudson River, secured EPA funding to finally clean up the superfund site in Hopewell Junction, and worked to ensure clean drinking water for the City of Newburgh after contaminants were found in their drinking water. Maloney has also been endorsed by the New York League of Conservation Voters.

“I’m running for re-election to ensure – no matter the zip code – folks in the Hudson Valley have clean drinking water and a safe environment to open a business or raise a family,” said Maloney. “I’m proud to have the endorsement of leading environmental groups like the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund because of my extensive record fighting for safe drinking water, leading the effort to clean up pollution in the Hudson River, and preventing environmental catastrophe by making oil train cars safer and keeping oil barges off the Hudson.”

“Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney has proven himself to be an effective fighter in Congress for the Hudson Valley’s families, economy and environment,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He’s seen first-hand the threats climate change poses to communities, knows clean energy solutions will grow the local economy, and has helped to increase the national spotlight around local water contamination issues and protecting the Hudson River.”

Since joining Congress, Maloney has been a leader in Congress on holding GE accountable and cleaning PCB’s out of the Hudson River, ensuring clean drinking water for the residents of Hopewell Junction and City of Newburgh, fighting to make oil trains safer and combating the dangerous U.S. Coast Guard proposal to place additional oil barge anchorage sites on the Hudson River. Maloney has also pushed for the responsible decommissioning of Indian Point, and has advocated for a more clean renewable energy strategy that will reduce carbon emissions, create jobs and keep energy prices low for Hudson Valley businesses and families.
