En La Lucha for Clean Air

For our last theme this Latinx Heritage Month, we’re uplifting an issue that is central to our mission, work, and impact: Clean Air. For those with access to clean air, living with polluted air–and the long-term effects that result from pollution–probably seems unimaginable. But that’s the reality for our communities; six million children suffer from asthma in the U.S., and it’s the leading cause for school absences, particularly for children from low-income families and communities of color, who are more likely to live in areas with dirty air due to toxic diesel pollution from heavy duty trucks, school buses and highways that run through our neighborhoods. Our communities are suffering the corresponding health and economic consequences.
