Abby Finkenauer is an important voice in a new generation of environmental leaders, who has been a champion for renewable energy and climate action in the Iowa House of Representatives.
As a state Representative, she sponsored a bill to include Iowa in the U.S. Climate Alliance. She helped lead efforts against the restructuring of the Iowa Energy Center, a renewable energy research center. Previously, she worked for the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and served on the board of Greater Dubuque Development Corporation. In 2017, she received the Democratic Activist Women’s Network’s “Rising Star Award.”
In Congress, Finkenauer will continue her fight to address climate change and protect Iowans’ air and water. She also will fight to create jobs in Clean Energy, for Eastern Iowa.
Finkenauer joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Rod Blum, who was named to LCV’s House Dirty Dozen and earned a 2% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In her own words:
“In Congress I will always be a voice for common sense policies that protect our air and water, fight climate change, and create good-paying clean energy jobs for Eastern Iowa.”
