Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Ayanna Pressley for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts’s 7th Congressional District.

“Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley has fought every single day in Congress to protect the health and safety of communities in Massachusetts and across the country,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “It could not be more important to have leaders in Congress like Congresswoman Pressley who stand up to big polluters and prioritize people over profits and fight for the transformational investments we need in climate, clean energy, justice, and jobs. She has been an amazing champion for making our housing and transportation more sustainable and equitable and LCV Action Fund is proud to support her for reelection.”

“Many communities in the Massachusetts 7th are disproportionately impacted by climate change and persistent environmental injustice,” said Congresswoman Pressley. “That’s why together we’ve consistently advocated and legislated for intersectional solutions, from making our housing system more just and expanding access to public transit to holding fossil fuel companies accountable and investing in sustainable infrastructure. I’m grateful for the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, and committed to continue working in deep partnership with them, advocates, experts, and residents to advance bold solutions that meet the moment.”

Representative Ayanna Pressley was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018. Rep. Pressley sits on the House Committee on Financial Services, as well as the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. She has been a strong advocate for the transformative climate and environmental justice provisions in the budget reconciliation bill passed by the U.S. House last year and is a strong supporter of the Green New Deal. Recently, Rep. Pressley grilled oil companies for “putting forward false climate solutions and exacerbating the climate crisis” in a House Oversight Committee hearing. Last year, she introduced the Fossil Free Finance Act which requires the Federal Reserve to acknowledge the threat of climate change and act to mitigate the financial threats of climate change. She is also a strong advocate for protecting our democracy and has cosponsored the For the People Act (H.R. 1), the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4), and the Washington, D.C. Admission Act (H.R. 51). Rep. Pressley earned a 100% on LCV’s 2021 National Environmental Scorecard
