Elaine Luria is a strong defender of clean water, clean air, and public lands.
Luria is a Navy veteran that served as a Surface Warfare Officer and nuclear engineer for twenty years, deploying six times, and conducting operations in the Middle East and the Western Pacific. More recently, Luria began a small business in Hampton Roads that created jobs in her community and donated more than $50,000 to charity.
As a representative, Luria will fight back against the Trump Administration’s attempts to bring offshore drilling to Virginia and will work to restore the health of the Chesapeake Bay. She will be a champion for clean energy technology and work towards environmental protections.
Luria joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Scott Taylor, who earned a 6% lifetime score, on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In her own words:
“As a Navy veteran and small business owner, I know firsthand how important it is to our regional economy and our military readiness to prevent offshore drilling off Virginia’s coasts.”
