Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsements of Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia’s 2nd and 7th Congressional Districts, respectively.

“Reps. Abigail Spanberger and Elaine Luria are true champions for Virginia’s communities and have been strong advocates for the growth of our clean energy economy, climate action, and democracy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support them for reelection because we know they will continue to hold polluters accountable and fight for a clean energy future, justice, and good-paying jobs for all communities in the Commonwealth.”

“Virginians are continuing to experience the impacts of the climate crisis and it’s important we have representatives in Congress who are fighting for the investments we need,” said Virginia LCV Executive Director Michael Town. “Representatives Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger have been strong champions for climate action, environmental justice, and democracy and we are proud to have them representing the Commonwealth.”

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund for my work on behalf of Virginia,” said Rep. Abigail Spanberger. “Together, we’ll build stronger communities, protect Virginia’s clean air and water, and combat the climate crisis.”

“As a Navy veteran, I know firsthand how important protecting the environment is to Coastal Virginia’s regional economy and our military readiness,” said Congresswoman Elaine Luria. “I’m proud to be endorsed again by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund because they share my commitment to protecting the Chesapeake Bay and investing in renewable energy.”

Reps. Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger were both elected to Congress in 2018. Rep. Spanberger serves on the House Committee on Agriculture where she is the Chair of the Conservation & Forestry Subcommittee and a member of the Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee. She has been a leader on issues of climate and agriculture, including introducing legislation to help farmers obtain funding for electric vehicle charging. Rep. Luria has fought to protect the health of the Chesapeake Bay, introducing the Chesapeake Bay Program Reauthorization Act her first year in Congress. She started the Bipartisan Offshore Wind Caucus and serves on the Congressional PFAS Task Force and the Congressional Solar Caucus. Both Reps. Spanberger and Luria have also supported key efforts to protect voting rights and reform our elections, including cosponsoring the For the People Act (H.R. 1) and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4).
