Xochitl Torres Small

Xochitl Torres Small is an attorney who is committed to environmental justice in New Mexico, where she was raised.

Torres Small worked as a field representative in Senator Tom Udall’s southern New Mexico regional office and helped to organize New Mexico’s first statewide water conference to plan for future water needs. She later clerked for a federal judge and most recently, joined the law firm of Kemp Smith where she specialized in water rights issues.

As a representative, Torres Small will prioritize water conservation and efforts to combat climate change. She will also be a champion for a clean energy economy.

Torres Small joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Steve Pearce, who earned an 4% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
