Christina Bohannan is a lifelong advocate for the environment and has championed clean energy and clean water in her careers as an environmental engineer, law professional, and member of the Iowa House of Representatives.

After earning her degree from the University of Florida and becoming the first person in her family to graduate college, Bohannan worked for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as an environmental engineer. She then attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she graduated first in her class and went on to clerk for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Bohannan spent more than two decades as a professor at the University of Iowa College of Law before defeating a 20-year incumbent to represent District 85 in the Iowa House of Representatives. During her time in the statehouse, Bohannan sponsored legislation on solar energy tax credits, testing for lead in water at schools and childcare facilities, and investigating toxic lead and copper in county water systems.

As a representative, Bohannan will bring her deep experience on clean water and democracy issues, and she will continue to champion clean energy, a healthy environment, and sustainable agriculture.

Bohannan joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who earned a 9% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“As an environmental engineer and a mother, I believe climate change is a significant threat to our economy, our way of life and to future generations. We should treat climate change with urgency, and use it as an opportunity to build modern infrastructure, create good jobs in new trades, invest in domestic clean energy and industry, and shore up national security.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
