House Representative

Ager

Jamie Ager is a fourth-generation farmer and a lifelong environmentalist who understands the opportunity to expand clean energy while lowering costs and creating good-paying jobs.

After graduating from Warren Wilson College, Ager continued his family lineage of cooperative farming by building Hickory Nut Gap, a sustainable meat company that supports dozens of farmers and community members across the region. Ager is a long-time supporter of North Carolina’s public lands and ensuring his region has clean air to breathe and safe water to drink. He and his family are deeply rooted in rural and agricultural spaces, and he understands the need to fight against the disproportionate burden of pollution and harms borne by underserved communities. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Ager recognized the dangers that climate change poses to Western North Carolina, and advocated for better emergency response to natural disasters and planning for prevention, including improved resilience and a decreased dependency on fossil fuels.

As a representative, Ager will continue fighting for practical solutions to protect our public lands, clean air and water, and address climate change impacts.

Ager joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Chuck Edwards, who earned a 5% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“Climate change, environmental protection, and a healthy democracy are core priorities for me because they directly affect our safety, economy, and basic freedoms. I will support practical, science-based solutions that protect clean air and water, reduce pollution, and help communities prepare for stronger storms and flooding – while creating good jobs and keeping costs manageable for families.” – LCVAF Questionnaire
