Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Pam Keith for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida’s 18th Congressional District.

“Pam Keith is running for Congress in a district where the impacts of the climate crisis are all too real, and she is the only candidate who will take bold action centering racial justice and equity to protect all communities in Florida,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support her for Congress because we know she will be a strong leader for a just transition to a clean energy future.”

“Pam Keith understands the importance of transitioning to a 100% clean energy future and will always prioritize the health of our environment and our communities, not special interests,” said Florida Conservation Voters Deputy Director Jonathan Webber. “Floridians can’t wait for bold action on the climate crisis any longer.”

“No state in the Union is going to suffer more than Florida through the effects of rising sea levels and bigger, more powerful storms,” said Pam Keith. “Our district is already feeling the impact of climate change, and it’s going to continue to get worse if we don’t do something about it. I’m proud to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. We need a leader in FL-18 who will do more than pay lip service to fighting climate change. In Congress, I will support rejoining the Paris Climate Accord and taking decisive action on the climate crisis, as well as fight to preserve Florida’s natural environment.”

Pam Keith was born in Turkey. The daughter of a diplomat, she lived in Morocco, Syria, and Brazil before moving to Oakland, California for high school. As a U.S. Navy JAG officer, Keith served her country in the Persian Gulf. In addition to being a long-time advocate for veterans, Keith is an attorney with expertise in labor and employment law. Keith earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UC Davis before graduating from Boston College Law School. After law school, Keith spent twenty years working at the prestigious law firms Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; Jones Day; and Ogletree Deakins. She then served as Senior In-House Counsel for NextEra Energy/Florida Power & Light Co. If elected, Keith will be the first Black female veteran in Congress.

About LCV Action Fund

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 90 U.S. Senators and 450 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
