Washington, D.C.–Ahead of this week’s markup of the House Appropriations Committee’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement from Legislative Director David Shadburn:
“House Republicans never miss a chance to raise your energy bills. They keep slashing support for affordable clean energy— the fastest, cheapest way to meet rising demand. This bill is no exception.
“Families are already struggling with soaring prices thanks to Trump and Congressional Republicans’ attacks on clean energy and reckless wars. Now this bill guts funding for energy efficiency programs that help cut household costs— all to reward their fossil fuel donors.
“Congress needs to scrap this bill and start over.”
