Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Representative Shomari Figures on his win in Alabama’s 2nd congressional district.
“Shomari Figures has been a strong leader for Alabama, and we’re thrilled to congratulate him on his victory,” said LCV President Pete Maysmith. “This win is a huge victory especially for Black communities in Alabama whose voice was attempted to be silenced by the racial gerrymandering efforts of the state legislature and Supreme Court earlier this year. LCV looks forward to working with Representative Figures to continue fighting for the health of our families, environmental justice, affordable clean energy, and free and fair elections.”
LCV Victory Fund invested $300,000 to defeat Rhett Marques and re-elect Representative Shomari Figures. The spending included digital ads focused on Rhett Marques’ record of supporting data center development, investing in data center interests, and allowing Big Tech to raise utility costs for Alabamians.
Environmental donors contributed $50,000 to Representative Figures via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised $28.8 million for the 2026 cycle.
Representative Figures is one of many climate champions who won up and down the ballot this cycle, reaffirming that addressing the climate crisis and affordable clean energy solutions are winning issues for voters.
