Washington, D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Representatives Tom Suozzi (NY-03), Laura Gillen (NY-04), Grace Meng (NY-06), Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), Yvette Clarke (NY-09), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ritchie Torres (NY-15), George Latimer (NY-16), Josh Riley (NY-19), Paul Tonko (NY-20), John Mannion (NY-22), Tim Kennedy (NY-26), and Representatives-elect Brad Lander (NY-10) and Cait Conley (NY-17) on their wins in New York.
“New York voters across the state have chosen representatives who are committed to making energy affordable and building a cleaner future for their communities,” said LCV President Pete Maysmith. “As families struggle with rising utility bills and the overall cost of living, it is vital to have leaders who will expand clean energy solutions, protect public health, and ensure every New Yorker can afford to heat and power their home. We congratulate these champions on their success and are especially excited to see Cait Conley make history as the first openly LGBTQ+ woman to represent New York in Congress.”
LCV Victory Fund invested over $1 million to elect Cait Conley and defeat Dirty Dozen member Mike Lawler. Opposition to data center development and concerns around the environmental impacts rapidly surged from 2025 to 2026, presenting a clear opportunity for LCV Victory Fund to connect with voters on an issue that linked climate impacts, rising utility costs, and corruption. Programming included digital and cable TV ads focused on Lawler’s support for data centers and his votes to hike up utility costs.
LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that drove over 32,500 volunteer shifts that turned out voters through 1,200,000 door knocks, phone calls, and letters.
Environmental donors contributed $1,047,000 to New York candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised $28.8 million for the 2026 cycle.
These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in New York, reaffirming that addressing the climate crisis and affordable clean energy solutions are winning issues for voters.
