LCV Releases Digital Ad in Support of Hillary Clinton in Their First Independent Expenditure of 2016

Jan 14, 2016

Washington, DC: The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is releasing a new digital ad in support of Hillary Clinton for president that contrasts Clinton’s leadership on climate change with climate science deniers as exemplified by Donald Trump.

The ad is LCV’s first independent expenditure in support of Hillary Clinton for president and in fact LCV’s first independent expenditure of the 2016 cycle overall.

LCV is using a Facebook ad campaign running videos targeted to Democratic primary and caucus voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Colorado and Virginia. LCV is spending approximately $160,000 on the campaign.

The ad, “Who Believes,” contrasts footage of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump denying the reality of climate change with Hillary Clinton’s plan to meet this challenge head-on. Some of the footage is from a September 17th, 2015 rally in New Hampshire where Trump berated an LCV volunteer who asked him if he believed in climate change. The full script and backup are available here.

“Hillary Clinton has the experience and commitment we need to defeat the dangerous candidates who continue to deny the settled science of climate change,” said LCV National Campaigns Director Clay Schroers. “She will stand up to their allies who would pollute our air and water, and protect the health of our families. The stakes could not be higher, and it’s vital that voters know where Hillary stands, and the risks we face.”

On November 9th, 2015, LCV Action Fund endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, its earliest endorsement of a presidential candidate in the history of the organization and the first endorsement ever made before any votes are cast.
