Washington, D.C. – Today, LCV Victory Fund, NRDC Action Fund PAC, and NextGen America announced that over $40.6 million has been raised for federal and state candidates through GiveGreen so far in this election cycle — shattering numbers from previous years and cementing GiveGreen as the biggest single-issue fundraising platform of any progressive group. Just three weeks ago the groups announced the $35 million milestone. 

“We are less than three weeks away from the most important Election Day of our lifetimes and climate is on the ballot — we know it and voters across the country know it,” said  LCV Victory Fund President Gene Karpinski. “The stakes have never been higher to elect climate leaders who will take action on the climate crisis, and we are grateful to the GiveGreen community for helping us build power in this fight.”

“GiveGreen has been such a success this year because people are fed up with Donald Trump’s pro-polluter, anti-health, anti-science agenda. They want better, they deserve better and they’re voting for it,” said Gina McCarthy, president and CEO of the NRDC Action Fund.

“This incredible accomplishment reflects the unique moment we are in. The climate community has come together with unprecedented strength and solidarity to elect climate champions up and down the ballot,” said NextGen America founder Tom Steyer. “We know that the stakes of getting this election right are life and death. People know this, and it’s being reflected in fundraising, organizing, and voting.”

Over $19 million of this historic total has been raised in support of the Biden-Harris campaign via GiveGreen, including $15 million by Climate Leaders for Biden. In addition to the historic total raised in support of the Biden-Harris campaign, GiveGreen donors already raised over $500,000 for four U.S. Senate candidates — exceeding the previous high of two Senate candidates — and for the first time ever GiveGreen donors have raised over $600,000 for two Senate candidates. This historic effort is being fueled by grassroots donors from across the country who are energized to support climate champions up and down the ballot.

The GiveGreen platform offers donors a strategic vision for supporting candidates who will take real action on climate change and other environmental priorities, and for making lasting change in our political system. It works to make supporting climate champions as convenient and impactful as possible.  

During the 2016 election cycle, the groups raised a total of $8.35 million for federal and state races and $23 million in the 2018 cycle through GiveGreen. Since its inception in 2009, GiveGreen has raised more than $80 million and 74% of candidates supported through the program have won.
