Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Heidi Campbell for election to the House of Representatives from Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.

“State Senator Heidi Campbell first got into politics after fighting to preserve green space in her community, and we know that addressing climate change and protecting the environment are top priorities for her,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “LCV Action Fund is excited to support Senator Campbell’s campaign for Congress because she is committed to fighting the climate crisis by investing in clean energy jobs and building more resilient infrastructure, especially in frontline communities that are disproportionately harmed by climate change.”

“Tennesseans have a deep appreciation for our lands and water, and it’s up to us to ensure every generation after us has the opportunity to enjoy these natural treasures,” said Heidi Campbell. “The League of Conservation Voters is leading the way to build a sustainable future where every family has clean water to drink, clean air to breathe and healthy lands to enjoy. I’m honored to have their guidance and support.”

About Heidi Campbell

Heidi Campbell got her start in politics when a developer began lobbying the local government in her community of Oak Hill to turn a beloved park into a strip mall. Campbell built a grassroots campaign and successfully saved the park. The experience inspired Campbell to run for office and she was elected Vice Mayor of Oak Hill. She served on the planning commission and was then elected Mayor in 2014. In 2020, she became a Tennessee State Senator representing District 20. In the state legislature she introduced legislation to increase solar energy, to encourage HOV lanes to reduce emissions from cars, to promote sustainable agriculture, and  to increase fines for littering. Campbell has also worked to protect our democracy by introducing legislation that would make it easier to register to vote and vote by absentee ballot.

Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
