Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Ammar Campa-Najjar for Congress in California’s 50th Congressional District.

“Ammar Campa-Najjar is committed to commonsense policies that will ensure clean air and clean water for all, and continue to grow California’s clean energy economy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to endorse his campaign because we know he will champion efforts to reduce pollution and fight for our public lands.”

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Ammar Campa-Najjar. “One of my goals when I started this journey, was to lift up a generation of unheard voters and invest in our country’s environmental future. Now more than ever, it is important that we protect our natural habitats from desecration and pollution. With the League of Conservation Voters,  I will advocate for sensible environmental policies and champion these issues in Congress.”

Ammar Campa-Najjar was born and raised in San Diego, California. He worked as a janitor, attended community college, and eventually graduated from San Diego State University. He worked on President Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012 and went on serve at the White House as part of the team that selected the 10 letters President Obama would read every day. After, Campa-Najjar led the Office of Public Affairs for the Employment and Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor. He later worked at U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as their communications director.  In Congress, he will focus on improving air and water quality and the transition to a clean energy economy.
