Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Andy Levin for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan’s 9th Congressional District.

“Representative Andy Levin has long been a great champion in the fight for environmental protections and clean energy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He understands the importance of reducing pollution into our Great Lakes and rivers, electrifying our vehicles and addressing the threat of climate change. We trust him to continue prioritizing climate and environmental justice in Congress. We are proud to support him for re-election.”

“Representative Andy Levin has been a steadfast environmental activist in Michigan throughout his career, and he has demonstrated that commitment in Congress,” said Michigan League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Lisa Wozniak. “He understands the urgency of the climate crisis, and we know he will continue to fight for safe, clean drinking water for all Michiganders in Congress.”

“I’m honored to receive the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund’s endorsement for my reelection to Congress,” said Representative Andy Levin. “I will continue to fight for transformative and just action to tackle the existential threat of climate change and to save our one precious Earth.”

Representative Andy Levin was elected to Congress in 2018. He authored a provision that was included in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020 to require the EPA to set standards around PFAS disposal, introduced legislation to protect the Great Lakes from PFAS contamination, introduced legislation with Representative Ocasio-Cortez to modernize electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and was an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal. Prior to his time in Congress, he founded Lean & Green Michigan, an energy finance marketplace that helps businesses and nonprofits to finance clean energy throughout the state. He also served as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth from 2007 to 2011. Previously, Levin worked as a union organizer and workers’ rights advocate, and has also joined efforts to prevent drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He has earned a perfect 100% score on LCV’s 2019 National Environmental Scorecard.
