LCV ACTION FUND ENDORSES ANGIE CRAIG FOR CONGRESS

Oct 4, 2017

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Angie Craig for Congress (MN-02). Craig has championed public health measures and is focused on creating green jobs and enacting policies to combat climate change.

“Angie Craig is a strong community leader,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are excited to support Angie Craig against Jason Lewis who has a terrible record of voting to undermine protections for our air, public lands and water, supporting the president’s radical anti-environment agenda. Jason Lewis has sided with corporate polluters every chance he gets, repeatedly putting the health of our communities at risk. He has shrugged off the president’s divisive rhetoric and has a troubling history of discriminatory comments of his own. The people of Minnesota’s second district deserve a representative who will stand up for the rights of all and fight for clean air and water, renewable jobs and healthcare.”

“I am honored to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Angie Craig. “When I’m elected to Congress, I will fight to protect the environment, slow climate change, and create jobs in the clean energy sector. I look forward to partnering with LCVAF to make sure voters know what’s at stake for our planet in this election.”

So far in 2017, Craig’s opponent, Jason Lewis, has repeatedly voted against climate action and investing in clean energy, clean air and water. Lewis has also threatened our national security, voting against letting the Department of Defense prepare for the impacts of climate change. He voted to weaken ozone pollution standards and for a more than $500 million cut to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a 32% cut to the Land and Water Conservation Fund, our country’s premier conservation program.

In contrast, Craig would bring valuable, first-hand experience with public health issues to Congress. For the majority of her successful career, she worked in the health care sector, where she rose to the executive level at two companies, including Fortune 500, St. Paul-based St. Jude Medical.  She has advocated for clean water and clean air initiatives and is committed to growing the renewable energy sector through investment in wind, solar and energy efficiency.

Craig is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office. Last cycle, LCV Action Fund raised more direct contributions to candidates through GiveGreen than ever before—over $8.3 million.
