Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Stephanie Murphy for re-election to the U.S. House from Florida’s 7th Congressional District.

“Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy has been a strong advocate for the environment, public health and fighting climate change, which is threatening the life and livelihood of millions of Floridians, and we enthusiastically endorse her for re-election,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Her work to address toxic algal blooms, fight offshore drilling and protect our clean water is vitally important, and Central Florida families know they can depend on Congresswoman Murphy to prioritize them over polluter profits.”

“Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy is an important partner in our work to protect Florida’s environment and the health of our communities,” said Florida Conservation Voters Executive Director Aliki Moncrief. “Her longtime commitment to protecting our state’s waters and fighting climate change is more critical now than ever. We are excited to continue these efforts together.”

“I’m incredibly honored to receive LCV Action Fund’s endorsement and to continue working with them to protect our planet and all who inhabit it. If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that we are one planet and one people; the decisions or inaction of any one country can affect us all,” said Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy.  “Florida is on the frontlines of the climate change battle as it poses an existential threat to our way of life. I’ll keep fighting in Congress for greener policies that ensure we pass on a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous world to our children.”

Representative Stephanie Murphy previously served as a businesswoman, educator, and national security specialist for the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Florida is at the forefront of the climate crisis, and Murphy is committed to addressing it. She has worked to help protect the lakes and wetlands that are the source waters for the Indian River Lagoon, which has experienced toxic algae blooms. In Congress, Murphy has secured funding to study and prevent these harmful blooms, co-sponsored legislation to protect Florida’s coasts from oil drilling, safeguard our public lands and more. Representative Murphy has earned a 90% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
