Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Dean Phillips for Congress in Minnesota’s 3rd District.

“As a successful entrepreneur, Dean Phillips understands that energy efficiency and clean energy are essential to the growth of Minnesota’s businesses and economy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “As a member of Congress, we know that he will stand up to the corrosive influence of polluter special interests, and we are thrilled to endorse his campaign.”

“Protecting our clean air and water — and taking meaningful action on climate change — will be among my top priorities if elected, and I’m honored to earn the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsement,” said Dean Phillips. “I look forward to working with LCV members in the weeks and months ahead to ensure that our district has a representative who does more than just talk about protecting the environment — and who can’t be bought and sold by the special interests in Washington, DC.”

Dean Phillips was born and raised in Minnesota. He graduated from Brown University and received his MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School. After college, Phillips joined a start-up company that produced cycling apparel and equipment. He later joined his family’s business, Phillips Distilling Company, and was eventually promoted to CEO. In 2011, he left the company to join Talenti Gelato, which he helped build into the largest gelato brand in the country. Phillips will stand up for every Minnesotan’s right to clean air and water and work to preserve the beautiful land of 10,000 lakes for future generations.

Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
