Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Debbie Wasserman Schultz for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida’s 23rd Congressional District.

“Throughout her career in public service, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz has defended Florida’s most treasured places by supporting Everglades restoration efforts and leading and co-sponsoring legislation to stop seismic testing and drilling off the Florida coast,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are thrilled to support her for re-election because we know she will continue to fight for the health and safety of Florida’s communities and environment.”

“Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the advocate Florida needs to address the climate emergency and protect our environment,” said Florida Conservation Voters Deputy Director Jonathan Webber. “Her continued leadership over the years has been invaluable to millions of American families who want nothing more than clean air, clean water, and a sustainable future for their kids. Now, more than ever, we need strong leadership from Congress to take on the big challenges facing our planet, and she is ready to continue to work on our behalf.”

“The existential threat of climate change demands that we be brave, aggressive and forthright in attacking environmental threats,” said Representative Wasserman Schultz. “There is no stronger ally in this urgent battle than the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, and I’ll carry their support in Congress like a shield in this vital, generational fight.”

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz was first elected to Congress in 2004. Wasserman Schultz is a senior appropriator and Member of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee. She spearheaded the effort to secure more than $235 million for Army Corps Everglades restoration projects in Fiscal Year 2020. She also passed two amendments on the House floor to block offshore drilling around Florida and block oil drilling within the Everglades Water Conservation Areas. She has earned a 93% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
