Washington D.C.- The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Representative Earl Blumenauer for re-election in Oregon’s 3rd district.

“Congressman Earl Blumenauer has spent his career working to cut carbon pollution and fight climate change,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is a tireless champion for sustainability and for protecting public lands and waters in Oregon and across the country, and we are proud to support his re-election campaign.”

“Earl Blumenauer has been a steadfast supporter of the environment his whole career, from his time on the Portland City Council through today as a Member of Congress,” said Oregon League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Doug Moore. “We are excited to continue to work with Congressman Blumenauer to take on the climate crisis, fight for better transportation options, and protect public lands that all Oregonians hold dear.”

“The League of Conservation Voters has been a critical partner in the fight for clean air and clean water, protecting our public lands, and most importantly, our efforts to address the climate emergency,” said Representative Blumenauer. “I am fortunate to have worked with such tireless advocates for sustainability and I’m looking forward to continuing our fight together.”

Prior to his election to Congress, Blumenauer served in the Oregon House of Representatives and on the Portland City Council. In Congress, he has authored several pieces of legislation that were signed into law that expanded tax credits for clean energy, including the Rural Wind Energy Development Act, and he is an original lead cosponsor of the 100% Clean Economy Act of 2019 that would transition our economy to 100% clean energy and net-zero carbon pollution no later than 2050. Blumenauer is also a strong proponent of mass transit and sustainable transportation policies and has authored legislation that incentivized bicycle commuting. In his home state, he successfully worked to expand wilderness protections for Mt. Hood. Representative Blumenauer has earned an impressive 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
