Washington D.C.- The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Eugene DePasquale for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th district.

“Eugene DePasquale is a tireless advocate for Pennsylvania’s families and environment who understands just how serious of a threat the climate crisis is for the state’s economy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “With an impressive pro-environment record as an elected official and a public servant, we know that DePasquale will be a climate leader in Congress and we are excited to endorse him in his race to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District.”

Throughout his career, Eugene DePasquale has fought to protect Pennsylvania’s air and water and to advance climate action” said Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania Executive Director Josh McNeil. “He brings to this race his environmental expertise from the Department of Environmental Protection, an excellent voting record in the Pennsylvania Ho5use of Representatives, and a focus on climate as State Auditor General.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Eugene DePasquale. “They know I am committed to combating the climate crisis and protecting our environment. Here in South Central Pennsylvania, the poor air quality and the water quality of the Susquehanna River are unacceptable. I will work with the League of Conservation Voters and partners across the spectrum to advocate for environmental policies that support American jobs, grow our clean energy economy,  and protect the health and safety of future generations.”

Eugene DePasquale has a strong record on environmental issues both prior to and during his time as an elected official. Before entering elected office, DePasquale worked for the Department of Environmental Protection during the Rendell administration. During his time in the state legislature he introduced and secured the passage of the Alternative Energy Investment Act, consistently took pro-environment votes, and scored a 100 percent on the Conservation Pennsylvania Scorecard during his last term. As Auditor General, DePasquale has also called climate change a threat to the economy, has held a number of public hearings on the issue, and this week released a report on the harmful impacts it will have on Pennsylvania.

In contrast, U.S. Representative Scott Perry is one of the most anti-environmental members of Congress with an appalling 2 percent lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
