Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound enviro tnmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Madeleine Dean for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 4th District.

“LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Madeleine Dean for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She has a proven track record in Pennsylvania of supporting common sense policies to address climate change and defending our public lands. We need her voice in Congress to protect Pennsylvania’s air, water, and lands for future generations.”

“Madeleine Dean has been a champion for Pennsylvania’s environment in the General Assembly,” said Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania Executive Director Josh McNeil. “Her willingness to stand up to polluter special interests has helped her earn a 100% lifetime score from Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania and we are confident that she will continue to fight for clean air, clean water, and healthy communities when she gets to Congress.”

“Lawmakers have a responsibility to protect and preserve our environment, our air, water, and land for ourselves and for the generations to come,” said Madeleine Dean. “I want to thank LCV Action Fund for their work to protect our planet, and for their support. Together, I am eager to work towards better standards that protect what we have, and fight for a cleaner tomorrow.”

Madeleine Dean was born and raised in Glenside, Pennsylvania. She served as Abington Township Commissioner, Ward 7 before being elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2012. In the state House, Dean has been a champion for environmental issues, earning a perfect 100%  lifetime score on Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania’s Scorecard. She sponsored legislation in 2017 to put a severance tax on natural gas extraction and has voted in favor of implementing the Clean Power Plan, protecting parks from drilling, and regulations on oil and gas extraction. In Congress, she will focus on smart solutions to address climate change and growing Pennsylvania’s clean energy economy.
