Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Mike Levin for Congress in California’s 49th District. This follows a previous endorsement from the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV).

“We are thrilled to endorse Mike Levin because he knows exactly what it takes to build our clean energy future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “His expertise and experience expanding clean energy and fighting climate change will enable him to quickly become a leader on these issues in Congress.”

“Mike Levin is a proven environmental leader,” said CLCV Interim Executive Director Rebecca Saltzman. “For over a decade he has been working to transition the fossil fuel economy to a sustainable energy future. Mike Levin will stand up to the environmental threats posed by the Trump Administration, fight to prevent offshore oil drilling, clean up the radioactive waste mess at San Onofre, and keep America in the international consensus to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are proud to endorse Mike Levin for Congress.”

“As someone who has spent the last dozen years working for sustainable energy I understand the profound significance of the League of Conservation Voters in crafting sound environmental policy,” said Mike Levin. “I deeply appreciate LCV Action Fund’s support and look forward to working with them to place America in the forefront of clean energy technology and in combating global climate change.”

Mike Levin was raised in southern Orange County and Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Stanford University and received his law degree from Duke University School of Law. Following law school, he became the executive director of the Orange County Democratic Party before becoming a vice president at a clean energy company, Better Energy Systems. He then joined the law firm of Bryan Cave, before going to work at Ener-Core, another clean technology company. He most recently served as the Director of Government Affairs at FuelCell Energy. Levin was a co founder of Sustain OC, a nonprofit that supports the renewable energy technology industry in Orange County. He has also served on the board of directors of the Center for Sustainable Energy and the California Hydrogen Business Council. Levin will bring his extensive experience in the clean energy industry to Congress and be a champion on the issues of sustainability and climate change.
