Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Pramila Jayapal for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Washington’s 7th Congressional District.

“Representative Pramila Jayapal has been a leader in Congress fighting for racial justice and equity,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We know she will continue to work for the health and safety of families across the nation, centering people over polluters and corporate interests and we are proud to support her for re-election.”

“Since her time in the state Senate, Representative Pramila Jayapal has prioritized the people of Washington as opposed to special interests and we are proud of all she’s accomplished so far in Congress,” said Washington Conservation Voters CEO Alyssa Macy. “We know she will continue to push for action on the climate crisis, protect our coast from offshore drilling, and fight for environmental justice, especially now in the middle of a public health crisis, to protect the health and well-being of our communities in Washington.”

“I’m proud that our people-first campaign has been endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund as we continue our bold fight for real environmental justice, clean air and safe drinking water no matter your ZIP code, expanding—not shrinking—our public lands and a 100 percent renewable energy future,” said Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. “As the co-founder of the environmental justice task force in Congress and the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, I am committed to continuing to champion the urgent environmental work before us.”

Representative Pramila Jayapal was elected to represent Washington’s 7th Congressional District in 2016. Jayapal previously served in the state Senate and founded the immigration advocacy organization OneAmerica. During her first term in Congress, she helped co-found and co-chair the United for Climate and Environmental Justice Task Force. Representative Jayapal has earned a 96% lifetime score and a perfect 100% score on LCV’s 2019 National Environmental Scorecard.

Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
