Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Raúl Grijalva for re-election to the U.S. House from Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District.

“Communities of color and low-income communities bear a disproportionate burden of the dangerous impacts of toxic pollution and climate change, and Chairman Raúl Grijalva has helped lead the fight against environmental racism to protect our public lands and solve the climate crisis,” said Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to continue to support such a fearless leader in the fight for environmental and racial justice.”

“Representative Raúl Grijalva has devoted his life to fighting for and prioritizing community.  He does this in his work on public lands, water, and tribal rights,” said Chispa Arizona Deputy Director Gloria Montaño Greene. “As Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, he has centered environmental work on people and communities, working to ensure that environmental justice includes community rights and racial justice. We need Congressman Grijalva to continue to represent Arizona.”

“Enacting sound environmental policies is a moral obligation we owe to future generations and no organization has committed more to addressing this head-on than LCV Action Fund — I’m proud to have their endorsement,” said Chairman Raúl Grijalva. “Since becoming Chair of the House Natural Resources Committee after the Democrats’ decisive victory in the 2018 mid-term election, LCV has stood with me in support of the many ambitious proposals and creative solutions I have been able to advance during this Congress. From rolling out the innovative Environmental Justice for All Act to introducing landmark climate legislation to cut emissions from public lands and water to net-zero by 2040, I’m glad to be able to help lead our shared fight in Washington.”

Chairman Raúl Grijalva has served Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District since 2003. Grijalva serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources and is a founding co-chair of the National Landscape Conservation System Caucus. He authored the Southern Arizona Land Protection Act and Grand Canyon Watersheds Protection Act, which protect Arizona’s land and water from the detrimental effects of uranium mining. Grijalva is also a strong advocate for environmental justice issues, introducing the Environmental Justice for All Act with Representative Donald McEachin (D-VA-04) following a year-long collaborative policymaking process. Representative Grijalva earned an outstanding 97% score on LCV’s 2019 National Environmental Scorecard.
