Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Representative Bill Pascrell for election to the U.S. House from New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District.

“Congressman Bill Pascrell has fought to protect air, land, and water for New Jersey families for nearly two decades,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support Congressman Pascrell; he has proven that he can bring people together to make progress on climate action.”

“I am honored to receive the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Congressman Bill Pascrell. “LCV is committed to preserving our environment for future generations, and I stand unshakably with them in their mission. As Donald Trump and congressional Republicans continue to wage war on our planet, I will continue to side with science, advocate for clean energy solutions, and demand a Green New Deal for the American people. Together with LCV, I take this responsibility on behalf of our children and their children. They deserve to inherit an earth free of catastrophic pollution and it is up to us today to provide it.”

“Congressman Bill Pascrell is committed to fighting for healthy communities, creating good local jobs in the clean energy economy, and preserving New Jersey’s natural resources,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director for the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “We are excited to continue working with him to ensure New Jersey is protected for future generations.”

Bill Pascrell Jr., a lifelong New Jersyan, was first elected in 1996. Representative Pascrell is the long-time sponsor of legislation that would foster development of offshore wind energy. He has voted to support the Paris Climate Accord and is also a proud cosponsor of the landmark Green New Deal which would establish a framework for the United States to more effectively stop the effects of climate change. Pascrell enthusiastically led the designation of Paterson’s Great Falls as a crown jewel unit of our National Park System, working hand-in-hand with President Barack Obama to see that the Great Falls and its 30-acre surrounding area were recognized as the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park.
