Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Sri Preston Kulkarni for election to the U.S. House from Texas’s 22nd Congressional District.

“Families across Houston can count on Sri Preston Kulkarni to fight every day for their health, a clean environment and a clean energy future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are thrilled to endorse Kulkarni because of his strong commitment to addressing the urgent threat of climate change, which is already impacting people across Houston and Texas.”

“Our campaign is honored to have LCV Action Fund’s endorsement in our fight to ensure the working families of TX-22 have clean air and water,” said Sri Preston Kulkarni. “The voters of TX-22 know that we need to expand our energy sector to include a greater proportion of renewable energy sources like wind and solar, increase the resilience of our region’s economy, and ensure a healthier, cleaner future for all.”

A Houston native, Sri Preston Kulkarni graduated from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and then served in the Foreign Service for 14 years. He has also worked as an adviser to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) on the Senate Armed Services Committee. In 2018, Kulkarni came within less than five percentage points of unseating incumbent Republican Representative Pete Olson. In Congress, Kulkarni will champion climate action and prioritize investing in Texas’s clean energy economy.

About LCV Action Fund

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 90 U.S. Senators and 450 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
