Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Val Hoyle for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.

“Val Hoyle has a clear record of advancing real climate solutions in Oregon and voters can count on her to continue this work in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “LCV Action Fund is proud to support her campaign because we know she will fight for the transformational climate investments we need in clean energy, justice, and good-paying union jobs that center workers and environmental justice to protect all communities.”

“Over more than a decade of knowing Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle, I have seen her be an effective leader and a strong advocate for Oregon’s people and the environment we all cherish,” said Doug Moore, executive director of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters. “Before becoming Oregon’s labor commissioner, Val served as state representative where she earned a 100% score on OLCV’s environmental scorecard in her last term. Val’s experience, combined with her strong work ethic and commitment to climate action make her the right choice in the race for Oregon’s fourth congressional district.”

“It’s an honor to be endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, an organization that is on the forefront of our fight to address the climate crisis,” said Commissioner Val Hoyle. “In the Oregon legislature, I led the push to enact our Clean Fuels program to reduce vehicle emissions, and supported the landmark legislation to end coal-generated electricity in our state. In Congress, I will join the call for bold action on climate legislation to power us off of fossil fuels while creating good jobs and investments in our communities, without leaving any worker behind.”

Val Hoyle serves as Oregon’s Labor Commissioner, a position voters statewide elected her to in 2018. Previously, she represented Oregon’s 14th District in the state legislature from 2009 to 2017. In the Oregon House, Hoyle served on various committees including the House Committee on Business and Labor, and as the Chair of the House Committee on Rules. In 2012, Hoyle was elected to be the House Majority Leader for the 2013 Legislative Session. As Majority Leader, Hoyle helped lead the effort to whip the votes to make Oregon’s Clean Fuels program permanent when it was threatened due to a sunset clause. In 2016, she helped pass the “Coal to Clean” bill to phase out coal power and double Oregon’s Renewable Portfolio Standard for electric utilities. She earned a 100 percent rating during her final legislative session on Oregon LCV’s Scorecard and an overall lifetime score of 86 percent.
