Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Representatives Dina Titus (NV-01), Susie Lee (NV-03), and Steven Horsford (NV-04) on their wins in Nevada.

“Nevada voters have decided that the leadership of these four dedicated climate advocates will continue to be pivotal in Congress – congratulations to all of you on your victories last night!” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Each of these members of Congress has seen the devastating impacts of the climate crisis firsthand in the Silver State and have fought hard for a just and equitable transition to a clean energy future for all. We’re looking forward to working with Senator Cortez Masto and Representatives Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford as they continue to lead Nevada and the nation towards environmental justice.”

In Nevada, we invested $3.8 million to re-elect Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and defeat Dirty Dozen member Adam Laxalt, which included multiple ads including a negative ad, “Profits in the Tank.” In the House, LCV Victory Fund invested $42,000 each to defeat Mark Robertson and elect Dina Titus (NV-01), support incumbent Susie Lee over challenger April Becker (NV-03), and support Steven Horsford (NV-04), challenged by Sam Peters. Spending included both digital ads and mail.

LCVVF, in partnership with Nevada Conservation Leadership PAC, also opened 4 field offices, knocked on over 500,000 doors, and had 65,000 conversations with voters in Nevada in support of Sen. Cortez Masto. LCVVF also supported Somos PAC’s field program to engage Latino voters in the NV Senate race.

On the campaign trail, Rep. Dina Titus ran the campaign ad “Never Back Down”, which focused on lowering costs for families by holding Big Oil accountable for price gouging and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. Rep. Susie Lee ran on her accomplishment of making health care more affordable and investing in climate change solutions through legislation she championed that became part of the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law this year. Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-4) highlighted his work introducing a standalone bill that was included in the Inflation Reduction Act that will promote more affordable energy-efficient and electric appliances, clean vehicles, rooftop-solar arrays, and investments in home energy efficiency.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Cortez Masto and Lee campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged over 8,250 total LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed over $1,374,000 to Nevada candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a midterm record $26.9 million for the 2022 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Nevada, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
