Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Representatives Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Shontel Brown (OH-11) and House candidates Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Emilia Sykes (OH-13)  on their wins in Ohio.

“Greg Landsman, Joyce Beatty, Marcy Kaptur, Shontel Brown, and Emilia Sykes have all been fighting hard to build a healthy environment and safe democracy that supports all Ohioans,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Ohio voters made it clear that they want leaders who will prioritize environmental justice, a clean energy transition, and good paying jobs for all communities. We are thrilled to work with these dedicated advocates to build a healthy future for every Ohioan.”

LCV Victory Fund invested $13,000 in support of Marcy Kaptur over challenger J.R. Majewski, $64,000 in support of Emilia Sykes over Madison Gesiotto Gilbert, and $83,000 in support of Greg Landsman over Steve Chabot. Investments went to direct mail as part of the Climate Voters Mobilization program with Climate Power Action.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Landsman campaign as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged over 8,250 total LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed over $442,000 to Ohio candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a midterm record $26.9 million for the 2022 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Ohio, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
