Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Representative Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Representative-elect Greg Casar (TX-35) on their wins in Texas and eagerly await results in Texas District 15, which is currently too close to call.

“Communities across Texas are seeing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis and pollution, and know first-hand that increasing extreme weather will only be exacerbated by leaders who put polluters over people and refuse to make progress for our climate and our democracy,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We’re thrilled to work alongside Representative Veronica Escobar and Representative-elect Greg Casar to build a cleaner future for Texans, and are committed to advocating to hold polluters accountable and create good-paying, clean energy jobs.”

Environmental donors contributed nearly $170,000 to Texas candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $26.9 million for the 2022 cycle.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Texas, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
