Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator-elect John Fetterman and Representatives Dwight Evans (PA-03), Madeleine Dean (PA-04), Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05), Susan Wild (PA-07), Matt Cartwright (PA-08), Summer Lee (PA-12), Chris Deluzio (PA-17), and Governor-elect Josh Shapiro on their wins in Pennsylvania.

“John Fetterman lives and breathes Pennsylvania,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We are excited to work with him in the Senate and stand together for clean energy, environmental justice, and good paying jobs for communities across the state.”

In Pennsylvania, LCV Victory Fund invested $3 million to elect John Fetterman and defeat Dirty Dozen member Mehmet Oz. The Pennsylvania Senate race was part of the Climate Voters Mobilization program with Climate Power Action. We also ran an anti-Oz ad in the final week of the election. LCVVF, in partnership with Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania Victory Fund, opened 5 field offices, knocked on nearly 300,000 doors, and had close to 40,000 conversations with Pennsylvania voters in support of John Fetterman. LCVVF also supported API PA’s bilingual persuasion mail program in support of Fetterman, targeting historically under-contacted AAPI voters in their native language. Additionally, LCVVF supported BlackPAC’s PA field program to engage with Black voters in support of Fetterman.

In House districts, LCVVF spent $360,000 on TV, digital, and mail supporting Susan Wild (PA-07), $60,000 on digital and mail supporting Matt Cartwright (PA-08), and $165,000 between the primary and general supporting Summer Lee (PA-12) with digital ads like “Summer”.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Fetterman, Wild, and Scanlon campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged 8,250 total LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed more than $1.3 million to Pennsylvania candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a midterm record $26.9 million for the 2022 cycle.

Our state affiliate Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania celebrated Governor-elect Josh Shapiro’s election as an environmental champion for the state. He defeated Doug Mastriano, a member of the 2022 Dirty Dozen in the States highlights 12 of the worst environmental candidates in the nation at the state and local level.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Pennsylvania, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
