Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator Raphael Warnock on his re-election to the U.S. Senate and victory over Dirty Dozen member Herschel Walker in the Georgia runoff.

“Thank you Georgia voters!” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We’re thrilled to continue working with proven climate and environmental justice champion Senator Warnock to deliver good paying jobs and a healthier future for Georgia families. Warnock’s victory solidifies a strong pro-environment majority in the U.S. Senate and sets up the incoming Senate to do the important work of governing – including quickly approving qualified judicial and executive branch nominees.”

LCV Victory Fund and affiliated entities invested close to $4 million in the Georgia Senate runoff and General Election to defeat Herschel Walker and re-elect Sen. Warnock. Walker’s loss marks LCVVF’s 10th Dirty Dozen defeat this year.

The spending in the runoff went to an LCVVF field program with offices in Lawrenceville and Smyrna, as well as a new LCVVF digital ad targeted at climate voters, an extension of the Climate Voters Mobilization program during the general election. Additionally during the runoff, Family Friendly Action PAC, with support from the New American Jobs Fund, a joint effort of LCV Victory Fund and the United Steelworkers (USW Works), ran a canvassing operation out of their Marietta field office from the general. In total, both runoff field programs knocked on over 172,000 doors and had conversations with 25,500 voters.

During the general election, LCV Victory Fund and Climate Power Action ran digital ads and sent direct mail to target climate voters in Georgia highlighting Warnock’s support for lowering costs, creating clean energy jobs, and combating the climate crisis through the Inflation Reduction Act. Also during the general election, the New American Jobs Fund was a major backer of Family Friendly Action PAC’s field organizing effort in support of Sen. Warnock. Through this program, organizers knocked on nearly 220,000 doors and had conversations with 32,884 Georgians in the north Atlanta suburbs.

Senator Warnock regularly talked about climate, clean energy, and the Inflation Reduction Act on the trail and ran a campaign ad highlighting his Clean Commute for Kids Act which is helping school districts transition to clean, electric buses and supporting thousands of jobs in Georgia.

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer for the Warnock campaign as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged over 8,500 total LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed over $1.3 million to Georgia candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a midterm record $27.1 million for the 2022 cycle.
