Washington, D.C. — In response to today’s meeting between Democratic House and Senate leaders and President Trump on proposals for an infrastructure package, the League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement from Deputy Legislative Director, Madeleine Foote:

“We applaud the House and Senate Democratic leaders for once-again emphasizing the importance of green infrastructure in their meeting with President Trump. An infrastructure package provides a critical opportunity to make significant progress on transitioning to a clean energy economy that will generate millions of family-sustaining jobs while helping communities prepare for the impacts of climate change many are already experiencing. We encourage the Trump administration and Congress to embrace a bold package that includes major public investments in everything from modernizing our electrical grid to expanding sustainable transit and building out electric vehicle infrastructure, from rebuilding drinking and wastewater infrastructure to improving inefficient buildings, and from stopping methane leaks from pipelines to prioritizing nature-based solutions. Last year voters across the country sent a loud and clear message that they want our elected officials to act on climate, and this is a chance to do just that.”
