Washington, D.C. — LCV Victory Fund today announced that the organization will invest at least $1.1 million to elect Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock before Georgia’s January 5 runoff election.
The investment includes a six-figure digital ad campaign launching today that calls attention to Perdue and Loeffler’s ties to special interests including Georgia Power, and the contrast with Ossoff and Warnock’s support for clean air, clean water, and climate action. LCV Victory Fund is also providing direct support for Family Friendly Action PAC and BlackPAC’s door-to-door canvassing efforts to Get Out The Vote in Georgia.
“David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have taken over $4 million from corporate PACs and over $200,000 from the PACs and employees of Georgia Power and its parent company — which are hurting our environment and hiking Georgians’ utility bills,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund SVP of Campaigns. “While Perdue and Loeffler stand with special interests and Donald Trump, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are approaching the converging crises in our country with the empathy and seriousness they deserve.”
BlackPAC has been organizing on the ground in Georgia since before the races went to a runoff and Family Friendly Action PAC started a major GOTV effort for the runoffs in November. Support from LCV Victory Fund will go towards both groups’ efforts to turn out key Georgia voters early or on January 5.
“The stakes of these two elections for the future of our environment could not be higher, especially for Black communities who stand to face the harshest impacts of our changing climate,” Adrianne Shropshire, Executive Director of BlackPAC stated. “We need Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock in the U.S. Senate not only because they acknowledge that climate change is a real, existential threat, but also because they have concrete plans to protect our environment and prioritize the needs of Black communities. BlackPAC is proud to partner with LCV Victory Fund in this effort to make sure Georgia voters understand which candidates are truly committed to ensuring every community in Georgia has clean air to breathe and clean water to drink.”
“The pandemic has exposed what countless families in Georgia already knew: Too many of our elected leaders in Washington aren’t looking out for the needs of everyday families,” said Family Friendly Action PAC. “In order to ensure we can rebuild our economy in a way that prioritizes healthy communities and families, we need leaders like Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock. They will work hard to pass policies that address the critical needs of our time, including the healthcare and caregiving crises we’re working to educate voters about. We’re thrilled to partner with LCV to make sure voters know who will have their backs in the Senate.”
LCV’s post-election poll found that climate change, clean energy, and the environment are top issues for the Biden coalition of voters that swung Georgia in support of the incoming president and sent Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock into their runoff elections that will determine control of the U.S. Senate.
