Raleigh, North Carolina – LCV Victory Fund today announced a $266,000 TV ad against Rep. Ted Budd in North Carolina’s 13th congressional district. The ad, which will be on air tomorrow and run for two weeks in the Charlotte and Greensboro markets, shows voters how Budd has stood with special interests and corporate polluters over protecting public health.

WATCH: “Health”

“Ted Budd votes with polluters nearly every single time,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund Senior Vice President for Campaigns. “Not only has he voted to let corporate polluters spew more toxins into our air and water, but he also supported taking away health coverage for people with preexisting conditions. Budd is voting for policies that could make people sicker and trying to take away their access to health care when they need it most.”

Budd has a zero percent lifetime environmental voting record on LCV’s scorecard.

LCV Victory Fund recently named Budd to a watchlist of targets for at least $15 million the group plans to invest in retaking a green majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. LCV Victory Fund plans to run significant programs in at least 25 targeted congressional districts, including North Carolina’s 9th and 13th.

A script of the ad can be found below, and research backup is available here.

“Health”

Congressman Ted Budd has taken almost a half a million dollars from special interests. How’s that working back home?

Budd voted to let big corporations spew more toxic pollution into our air and water.

Doctors say that could mean more asthma, heart and lung disease…even cancer.

And what happens when you get sick?

Ted Budd voted to let insurance companies deny coverage for pre-existing medical conditions. So more people could get sick and fewer people would have coverage.

Ted Budd’s not working for North Carolina.
