Augusta, Maine — LCV Victory Fund today announced a $262,000 TV ad in Maine’s 2nd congressional district highlighting how Rep. Bruce Poliquin has sided with special interests instead of protecting public health.

WATCH: “Choices”

“Not only has Bruce Poliquin voted to gut safeguards for our clean air and water, he’s also supported eliminating protections for people with preexisting conditions,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund Senior Vice President for Campaigns. “That means more Mainers would get sick because of increased pollution — and some would lose their health insurance when they need it most. Maine deserves better than Bruce Poliquin.”

Aside from voting to gut health insurance protections for people with preexisting conditions and slash funding for Medicare, Poliquin has also voted to roll back protections for clean air and water — leading to more pollution that makes people sick. He has a 17 percent lifetime environmental voting record from the League of Conservation Voters.

A script of the ad is below, and research back-up is available here.

“Choices”

In Washington, you can serve Maine…or big special interests. What did Bruce Poliquin choose?

Over half of Mainers have a pre-existing condition. Poliquin sided with insurance companies to gut their protections.

Over 300,000 Mainers rely on Medicare. Poliquin supported a plan with $700 billion in cuts.

And on what the AARP calls an “Age Tax” … Poliquin voted to charge older Mainers five times more.

Bruce Poliquin sides with the insurance companies. NOT Maine.
