Washington, D.C. —  The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) launched a new television ad today on cable supporting President Joe Biden’s early action on climate and environmental justice from his executive orders. As the oil and gas industry tries to stay relevant, polls continue to show that the majority of voters want to see action on climate and investments in clean energy. This ad is part of larger efforts from LCV and Climate Power encouraging the Biden administration to take swift, ambitious action on climate.

The new ad from leading environmental groups recognizes President Biden’s historic executive actions during the first days of his presidency to restore America’s leadership on climate, including centering environmental justice, transitioning to 100% clean energy, and creating high-quality, good-paying union jobs.

“With President Biden in the White House, this administration is prioritizing people — not polluters — and leading on climate and environmental justice, creating clean energy jobs and rebuilding a more equitable and just economy for all,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. “We’ve already seen the single biggest day for climate action in more than a decade, and this is only the beginning for President Biden and Vice President Harris. This is our moment.”

“President Biden took bold action on climate in his first weeks in office, building toward a clean energy future that means millions of more good-paying jobs and protecting our right to clean air, land, and water,” said Climate Power Executive Director Lori Lodes. “This is exactly what our country needs at this urgent moment.”

LCV and Climate Power each launched digital and TV ad campaigns last month calling for bold action on the climate crisis right out of the gate from the Biden administration.

President Biden took immediate action on climate during his first day in office, including rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement; stopping the dirty and dangerous Keystone XL pipeline; reversing Trump’s rollbacks of commonsense environmental protections; and more. On January 27, the Biden administration took additional, historic executive actions to set our country on a path to 100 percent clean energy by 2035, protect 30 percent of our lands and oceans by 2030 and stop reckless giveaways of those lands to oil and gas CEOs, address environmental injustice, ensure that 40 percent of all investments are directed to frontline communities and communities of color, and create high-quality, good-paying union jobs, restore the role of science in decision-making.
