Albany, NY – The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, and the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today their endorsement of Anthony Brindisi for Congress in New York’s 22nd District.

“Anthony Brindisi has a proven record of protecting clean air and water in New York,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are excited to endorse his campaign because we know he will be an important ally as we work to create new jobs and build the clean energy economy in Upstate New York communities.”

“Congressmember Claudia Tenney has voted time and again in U.S. House of Representatives to dismantle our country’s long standing bipartisan commitment to environmental protection and she must be replaced this fall,” said Marcia Bystryn, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “NYLCV is proud to endorse Assemblymember Brindisi who will take his record of leadership to Washington D.C.  and fight back against the assaults on laws protecting the water we drink, the air we breathe and the lands we cherish. We urge voters in New York’s 22nd Congressional District to cast their ballot for Anthony Brindisi this November.”

“To me, protecting the environment means protecting people’s livelihoods, health, and future,” said Anthony Brindisi. “In Upstate New York, sustainability and clean natural resources are essential to continue our long tradition of agriculture. In the Assembly, I took bold steps to push for more alternative energy and protect New York’s air and water. I’m proud to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and New York LCV because it means we’re one step closer to a Congress that values environmental protection and will hold accountable those who don’t.”

Anthony Brindisi was born and raised in Utica, New York. Following the birth of his first child, he served on the Utica School Board where he led a major school modernization project. Brindisi was first elected to the New York State Assembly in 2011 and has been a strong advocate for the environment in Albany. He sponsored legislation banning toxic chemicals in upholstered furniture and has been a supporter of clean energy and clean water legislation, including a major investment in drinking water infrastructure. In Congress, Brindisi will continue to fight for clean air and water and work to bring renewable energy jobs to his district.
